ROLE OF THE WORD "КОГДА-ТО" (ONCE) IN THE STATEMENT (BASED ON THE NOVEL "THE LIFE OF ARSENIEV" BY I. A. BUNIN)

Abstract. The article discusses the fragments of the indefinite past tense, which are associated with a speaker’s memories. The purpose of the work is to determine the role of the word "когда-то" (once) in statements extracted from a fiction text. The obtained results show that the word "когда-то" expresses the meaning of the indefinite past tense in the statements that mark the significance of the present tense plane, emotional and evaluative components, as well as space configuration. The novelty of the work lies in identifying the features of the functioning of the word "когда-то" in the communicative-pragmatic aspect.
