CHARACTERISTICS OF PHYSIOLOGICAL EUPHEMISMS IN THE XX - AT THE BEGINNING OF THE XXI CENTURY (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE)

Abstract. The article deals with the basic laws of the development of the English euphemistic units used in matters of physiology and the intimate sphere of people’s life in the period of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century. The paper ascertains the relationship between the sociocultural background of the English-speaking community and focus ideas (or profiles) that form the basis of the nomination of the semantics of phraseological euphemisms belonging to the specified chronological period. A statistical analysis of the units is carried out and further trends in the development of euphemistic nominations are projected basing on the most productive profiles.
