THE GERMAN LANGUAGE IN FRIENDLY LETTERS OF A. I. TURGENEV TO V. A. ZHUKOVSKY

Abstract. The aim of the paper is to study the literary multilingualism of the Russian literature of the first half of the XIX century. For the first time, an attempt is made to turn to the letters of A. I. Turgenev to V. A. Zhukovsky for the purpose of examining foreign-language inclusions. The task is to identify and comprehend the corpus of foreign-language inclusions in a complex way, to determine their types, functions, and also to describe the characteristic features of their use. The conclusion is made about the productive role of inclusions in Latin, English, Italian and German in the poetics of a friendly letter. Inclusions in German fit into narrative strategies in the structure of the literary travel genre and form a communicative code in the dialogue with Germanophile V. Zhukovsky.
