METAPHORICAL EXPRESSION OF THE NOTION "BEHAVIOUR" BY MEANS OF PHRASAL VERBS

Abstract. The phenomenon of the notion "behaviour" is not completely understood and is of interest both for the way of verbalisation and other forms of expressiveness. If we consider phrasal verbs as forms of manifestation of this linguistic and cultural phenomenon, then we can see a large number of new semantic meanings due to combinatorics and metaphoricity of both a phrasal verb and particles. Polysemy of a verb and a particle itself is the key to understand the meaning of phrasal verbs. The detailed study of this linguistic phenomenon along with its classification and systematisation can facilitate the process of learning the English language.
