PROBLEMATICS AND POETICS OF THE NOVEL "THE WHITE SHAWL" BY Z. TOLGUROV

Abstract. Within the framework of ontological poetics, the author analyses the novel of the Balkarian writer Zeytun Tolgurov "The White Shawl". The article aims to show repeatability of historical events developing according to the "challenge - response" scheme. There is much in common between the Soviet cultural revolution and modern globalization processes, which alienate a person from his native land, deform his ethnic identity, ruin the patriarchal system of values. The main philosophical idea of the analysed novel is preservation of the basic spiritual and ethical constants in the modernizing world. The researcher’s attention is focused on decoding the symbolic meaning of "white shawl" - the key image in the novel.
