Abstract. The article examines artistic representation of Renaissance humanism in the plays "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead" by T. Stoppard, "Amleto in Salsa Picante" by A. Nicolaj, "Fortinbras Gets Drunk" by J. G?owacki, "The Murder of Gonzago" by N. Yordanov, "Ophelia" by T. Akhtman. The researchers provide a contrastive-comparative analysis of the mentioned plays, which are considered as the most vivid examples of artistic reinterpretation of Renaissance humanism in the European dramaturgy of the last third of the XX century. Reinterpretation, dehumanization, decentralization of Hamlet’s image allow concluding about denial of Renaissance humanism in the modern European dramaturgy. The paper summarizes new material on this issue, clarifies the notion of Renaissance humanism and proposes a hypothesis on the existence of "Hamlet’s text" in the European literature.
