PROBLEM-BASED METHODS TO FORM LEXICAL SKILLS WHEN TEACHING RUSSIAN - ENGLISH / ENGLISH - RUSSIAN TRANSLATION IN ADDITIONAL FOREIGN-LANGUAGE EDUCATION

Abstract. In the era of globalization, many universities offer additional foreign-language courses aimed to improve learners’ translation skills, but the problem of choosing lexical correlations requires further attention. The paper examines the peculiarities of teaching Russian - English / English - Russian translation at the lexical level, proposes translation teaching techniques with a focus on lexical compatibility, antonymic translation, identification of homonyms and homophones. The author justifies the necessity to consider the mentioned issues while compiling additional foreign-language courses, outlines prospects for the improvement of translation teaching methodology.
