Abstract. The article analyses the evolution of Mustai Karim’s lyrics from early works created within the framework of socialist realism to late works filled with romanticism and philosophical deepness, shows the formation of poetic thinking. The images and symbols formed in the war period continue to develop in Karim’s post-war poetry and prose. Interrelation of his early and late ideological conceptions is revealed. The repeating theme of love and sensuality as a leitmotiv of his poetry, his own vision of inter-ethnic problems - these observations lead to the conclusion that the poet’s creative work acquired global cultural value.
