METAPHORICAL MODELLING OF OIL INDUSTRY TERMS (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE)

Abstract. The article presents the results of studying the English metaphorical oil industry terminology in the light of conceptual modelling. A terminological system is regulated by the universal laws of philosophy, psychology, language, thus sectoral terminology is considered from the viewpoint of linguistic and cognitive activity. The authors show the productivity of the semantic method of term formation in a sublanguage and consider the role of metaphorical terms representing the interrelation of the professional and literary language. The paper describes the basic models of the sectoral vocabulary and identifies their main conceptual features that indicate the anthropocentric nature of the analysed terminology.
