STYLISTIC FEATURES OF THE ENGLISH ONLINE SPORTS COMMENTARY

Abstract. The article is devoted to studying the stylistic features of the English online sports commentary. The authors define such genre of sports discourse as online commentary, present a brief description of it and specify differences from other types of sports commentary. The paper also describes the extralinguistic factors influencing the choice of linguo-stylistic methods, and analyzes and estimates the approximate ratio of using tropes and figures of speech in the English online commentaries of football matches.
