SPECIFICITY OF FORMATION PROCESSES OF ENGLISH AND RUSSIAN TERMS OF OIL AND GAS GEOLOGY: COMPARATIVE ASPECT

Abstract. The article is devoted to the problems of creating terms that are relevant for modern terminology. The author solves the set task within the framework of the terminological system of oil and gas geology, which is analyzed in synchrony from the point of view of comparative linguistics. This involves identifying the most productive ways of forming the terms of this term system in Russian and English at the present stage of its development. As a result of the study, the author comes to the conclusion that the terms of oil and gas geology in both languages are most often formed morphologically.
