THE NOVEL "BY THE WILL OF GENGHIS KHAN" BY N. A. LUGINOV: RESPONSES TO MODERN CHALLENGES

Abstract. The article analyzes the historical novel "By the Will of Genghis Khan" by N. A. Luginov taking into account the problems of national identity search, which became relevant in the Russian Federation from the 1985-90s. The paper tackles the problem of Eurasian identity and its representation in N. A. Luginov’s novel, examines the author’s position on the key issue: what lesson should we learn from the history of Genghis Khan’s reign, the rise and fall of his Empire? The writer’s interpretation of Genghis Khan’s image is discovered. N. A. Luginov’s novel is considered as a key element of Yakut national identity that was formed at the turn of the centuries. The paper provides the fragments of a research interview with N. A. Luginov, which illustrates the author’s conclusions.
