LEXICOGRAPHICAL AND COMMUNICATIVE MEANING OF THE ENGLISH LEXEME "HEAVY" IN THE COMPARATIVE ASPECT

Abstract. The article analyzes the functioning of the English lexeme "heavy". The paper provides the comparative description of the lexicographical and communicative meaning of the lexeme "heavy". The originality of the study involves the integration of lexicographical and contextual methods for objective description of the lexeme semantics. The relevance of the study is determined by the necessity to discover the lexeme semantics actually existing in the native speakers’ linguistic consciousness. The research findings allowed the authors to identify similarities and differences in the content of the analyzed meanings.
