STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF TOPONYMS AND MICRO-TOPONYMS OF AKHTYNSKY DISTRICT OF THE REPUBLIC OF DAGESTAN

Abstract. The article for the first time examines toponyms and micro-toponyms of Akhtynsky district of the Republic of Dagestan in the structural and word-formative aspect. The study is based on the toponymical material of 36 settlements of the district. Special attention is paid to micro-toponyms of deserted settlements (17 in total), in particular, to the unfixed material, which is in danger of extinction. The author analyzes the component structure (simple, complex, compound toponyms) of the district toponymical system, classifies toponyms and micro-toponyms according to word-formative and morphological models, and identifies their peculiarities.
