THE ACTIVATION OF PASSIVE VOCABULARY IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSES AT SENIOR SCHOOL

Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of preventing the transition of lexis from the active vocabulary of senior school students to the passive one because of its rare use. The analysis of the course book "Spotlight" for the 10th grade shows that some lexis intended for the active vocabulary, after its presentation, practice and production in a certain module, is practically not used in the subsequent modules and turns gradually into the passive vocabulary. To prevent this negative process, the authors offer a number of tasks, in which the new vocabulary is combined with the vocabulary from the previous modules.
