ON SOME BASES OF ADJECTIVES CLASSIFICATION (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE ENGLISH, RUSSIAN AND KABARDIAN LANGUAGES)

Abstract. In the article the problems connected with the study of the functional and semantic features of the adjective in the composition of the adjective phrase and the possible determination of the parameters of its inclusion in structurally organized categories are studied. Certain approaches to the classification of attributive combinations and the description of the semantic functions of adjectives are analyzed. The significance of highlighting certain criteria, corresponding to the principle of consistency of classifications bases, is substantiated. The conclusion is made about the necessity of strict correspondence of the highlighted semantic classes of adjectives to the indicated criteria and their reliable representation in compliance with the nature of cause-effect relations.
