SETTLED SIMILES AS A MEANS OF LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL COMPETENCE FORMATION WHILE TEACHING RUSSIAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article reveals the possibilities of settled similes as linguistic units, through which it is possible to develop and improve the linguistic and cultural competence of students - non-native speakers. The proposed material is limited by settled similes with the component "plant" that, being a source of background knowledge acquisition, help to touch the Russians’ culture and everyday life. Step-by-step acquaintance of foreign students with these phenomena not only contributes to the outlook broadening, but also helps to avoid a situation of communicative failure when using them in speech practice.
