"WAR AND WOMAN" AS AN ANTHROPOLOGICAL PROBLEM (BASED ON THE STORIES OF A. V. DRUZHININ "MADEMOISELLE JEANNETTE" AND L. N. TOLSTOY "THE PRISONER OF THE CAUCASUS")

Abstract. The methodological shift of literary criticism of the ХХI century towards anthropocentrism led to the rapid development of gender studies. The author of the article considers female images in two logically and thematically interconnected Caucasian stories by A. V. Druzhinin "Mademoiselle Jeannette" and L. N. Tolstoy "The Prisoner of the Caucasus". The philosophical idea of the first story is reduced to the inhuman essence of war, leading to the deformation of the female nature, the masculinization of her physical and psychological traits. In the second story, in the person of the little girl Dina, the author shows the great peacekeeping potential of women capable of preventing a military conflict and establishing a cultural dialogue between the opposing sides.
