THE ROLE OF PSYCHOLOGISM IN THE PSYCHOLOGICAL CRIMINAL NOVEL AND ITS INFLUENCE ON READER’S INTEREST

Abstract. The article examines the phenomenon of psychologism and its role in the genre of a psychological criminal novel. The novel "Death under Sail" (1932) by C. P. Snow is analyzed. The author studies the ways of psychologism influence on reader’s interest. In the course of studying the indicated problems, the paper reveals such ways of psychologism influence on reader’ interest as immersing the reader in the plot, using two polar images as the main characters, identifying the reader and the main characters, reader’s emotional interest and trying on the role of "psychologist" for himself / herself, etc.
