Abstract. The article summarizes the author’s experience in the sphere of teaching the academic discipline "Theory and Methods of Teaching History of Russian Literature at Higher School" to the candidates for Master’s Degree in Philology of the National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University. The author characterizes the structure of the course, its purposes and tasks, professional competences being formed. The researcher emphasizes that this academic discipline in many ways forms the basis of further professional activity of candidates for Master’s Degree in Philology.
