SOME WAYS OF TRANSLATING THE REALIAS OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE INTO RUSSIAN (BY O. HENRY’S STORIES)

Abstract. The article considers the use and possible ways of translating realias into Russian in O. Henry’s stories. The authors analyze and give comments on the techniques of translating texts by Soviet and Russian interpreters. The focus is on such translation techniques as calquing, transliteration, transcription, approximate translation and replacement. The paper gives examples from the following stories by O. Henry: "The Complete Life of John Hopkins" and "The Trimmed Lamp".
