THE ANALYSIS OF PROBLEMS OF UNIVERSALISM IN LINGUISTICS

Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of the problems of universalism in linguistics. The author notes the historical conditionality of the emergence of the problem of the universal in the language and the presence of several stages in it, each of which is marked by the establishment of new possibilities for examining the problem under consideration. The paper presents the differentiation in the problematics of universalism of two areas: the universalism of the categories of language as an object of research and the universalism of methods for describing linguistic phenomena. The study considers various types of linguistic universals on the phonological, lexical-grammatical and syntactic levels of the linguistic system.
