Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of the questions of origin, formation and development of a musical comedy, which remain the least studied in Adyghe literary criticism. In this regard, attention is focused on the genre identity of the Kabardino-Circassian comedy as a kind of dramatic art. It is established that, unlike the Adyghe and Circassian comedy, the Kabardian comedy has accumulated more experience and has become the heritage of the music world much earlier. In this connection, the main attention in the paper is paid precisely to the problem of scientific coverage of the first steps of Kabardian musical comediography.
