Abstract. The article discusses methodological issues of teaching English to mixed-ability learners (Level A1, Level A2 and Level B1) of advanced training course on the additional academic program. Correlation of theoretical and practical material introduced into educational process to promote language skills among mixed-level learners is represented as a classification which varies depending on the level of learners’ linguistic competence.
