FIGURATIVE SYSTEM’S FEATURES IN A. C. SWINBURNE’S LATE LYRICS: COMBINATORICS OF METAPHORIC MODEL’S CONCEPTUAL FEATURES

Abstract. The article presents the results of using the correlation analysis method in the study of A. C. Swinburne’s figurative system in his late lyrics. The calculation of the Cole correlation coefficient in the metaphoric models of this period makes it possible to identify the cases of the positive and negative determination of conceptual features, to measure the strength of the registered interdependdencies. On the basis of the obtained data, conclusions are made about the specific mechanisms of the metaphoric system functioning at the final stage of the author’s literary path, the directions of its evolution and the individual characteristics of the poet’s style as a whole.
