SENSE OF SHAME AS A REGULATOR OF HUMAN’S SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR (BY THE MATERIAL OF M. M. PRISHVIN’S NOVEL "THE CHAIN OF KASHCHEY")

Abstract. The article analyses linguistic means to represent the states of a human who experiences shame. The author examines the manifestations of this state and the motives for its origin. M. M. Prishvin’s novel "The Chain of Kashchey" served as the research material. The analysis leads to the conclusion that the sense of shame is typical of the Russians, and, though it causes certain discomfort, shame is a positive feeling since it is a regulator of human’s social behaviour and personal development.
