ROBERT SOUTHEY’S INDIVIDUAL STYLE EVOLUTION (BY THE MATERIAL OF POEMS)

Abstract. The article is devoted to the evolution of the individual style, one of the most relevant areas of linguistics. The works of the English poet of the XVIII-XIX centuries Robert Southey were used as the material for the research. The main attention is paid to the description of the poet’s metaphoric system and the identification of the chief dominants of his conceptual sphere at various stages of creativity, which allowed the author to trace the evolution of the poet’s individual style. As a result of the research, the constants of the metaphorical system that constitute the characteristic features of Robert Southey’s individual style were revealed.
