LAMA’S IMAGE PECULIARITIES IN THE BURYAT GESARIADA

Abstract. In the article, the analysis of the Buryat Gesariada texts, which, unlike the Mongolian version, experienced minimal influence from widespread Buddhism in the Mongolian world, is carried out. The comparative review of the Buryat ?ligers about Gesar, in particular, those related to the Ungin storytelling tradition, allows tracing the transformation of the traditional motive of shapeshifting in the Buryat folklore associated with introducing the image of a Buddhist clergyman, a lama, into it. At the same time, the author of the article comes to the conclusion that in his primary semantic content, a lama image in the Buryat ?ligers about Gesar is still positive.
