ON ADVANTAGES OF A VERBAL WORD AS A SPECIAL NOMINATION (BY THE EXAMPLE OF MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY)

Abstract. The article discusses the controversial issue of the terminological status of a verbal word, its conformity with logical and linguistic requirements for the nominations, which designate special notions. The author describes the correspondence of verbal units to the requirements for the designation of a special notion, unambiguity, accuracy, lack of synonymic relations and expressive-emotional colouring, systematizing properties presence, word-building potency and the status of an international unit. The paper concludes that the verb term meets these requirements to a greater extent than the substantive verbal term. The advantage of the verb term as a communicative universal unit is emphasized.
