GENRE: CATEGORIAL STATUS IN DIALECTICS OF FEATURES

Abstract. The genre is at the same time stable as a theoretical model and dynamic as a nationally specific phenomenon developing historically. The objective of the article is to identify those genre features that determine its categorial status. The novelty of the stated research approach is in the study of the categorial status of the genre as a result of the hierarchical coordination of genre characteristics; as such the paper examines the theme, the author’s image, the modality, the chronotope and the motive structure in their dialectical unity.
