LEXICAL PECULIARITIES OF THE COLUMBIAN NATIONAL VARIANT OF SPANISH IN THE "COFFEE AXIS" REGION

Abstract. Within the research area of inter-variant dialectology, the article analyses lexico-semantic differences between the Columbian national variant of Spanish and its territorial dialect "paisa" spoken in the "Coffee Axis" region. The choice of this dialect is conditioned by its prestigiousness in Columbia and the popularity of many of its lexical units both within the country and abroad. To identify semantic differences the author uses the following techniques: surveying native speakers, studying scientific literature, lexicographical data and the data of linguistic Internet-resources. The researcher concludes on the necessity to consider these characteristics in intercultural communication.
