DECLENSION TYPES IN THE OLD TATAR LITERARY LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article describes the system-formative classifying features of noun declension in the Tatar language. On the basis of chronological analysis the authors identify the structural types of the nominal and possessive-nominal declension paradigm in the Tatar literary monuments, discover their structural parameters. The paper argues that different stages of language evolution are characterized by the usage of certain declension types. The findings indicate that the Tatar language is characterized by the transition from multi-type to one-type declension.
