PROBLEM OF ASSESSING FOREIGN-LANGUAGE TEXT TRANSLATION QUALITY IN THE PROCESS OF STUDENTS’ TRANSLATION COMPETENCES FORMATION

Abstract. The article substantiates the importance of the properly organized system of the level control of students’ translation competences formation. Its functions are revealed. The author studies the main translation difficulties arising in connection with the lack of understanding of certain elements in the text or the inability to analyze adequately its pragmatic orientation. The criteria for assessing the quality of translation are specified. The features of translation of journalistic style texts, contributing to the formation and development of not only translation skills, but also the ability to analyze and interpret a foreign text, are described. The assignments aimed at improving the quality of the translations performed by students are proposed. The form of the assessment sheet of translation quality is developed for the teacher.
