SPECIFICITY OF TRANSLATING THE METAPHORICAL MODEL "MEDICINE IS A DETECTIVE STORY"INTO RUSSIAN (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE MEDICAL TV SERIES "HOUSE, M.D.")

Abstract. The article considers the universal use of the metaphorical model "Medicine is a detective story" in English and Russian. The research material includes movie dialogues from the American medical TV series "House, M.D." and their voiceover translation performed by the Lostfilm Company. The peculiarities of this metaphorical model are analyzed on the basis of two most influential nowadays metaphor translation theories: linguistic and cognitive ones. The authors propose promising methods to study metaphorical models in modern movie translation.
