Abstract. This article is an attempt to study the linguo-cultural type "blogger". The objective of the research is to determine the main characteristics of this type in the Russian and American linguistic consciousness. In the course of the work the author refers to the dictionary definitions and etymology of the lexemes "блогер" / "blogger", and also analyzes the results of the survey of the American and Russian respondents. On the basis of the study, the author concludes that the main characteristics of this type in both the American and the Russian linguistic consciousness are: enthusiasm, creativity, aesthetic approach to the design of his/her account, knowledge of specific terms and jargon of both the blogosphere and the topic under discussion, the desire and ability to awake interest and to present the necessary material in an exciting and unusual way.
