Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of the poetry of the Udmurt writers, whose childhood coincided with the years of the Great Patriotic War. The author analyzes the image of wartime in the poetic perception of a child. In a comparative perspective the study presents the leading themes and motives: early growing up, hungry childhood, overwork, motherhood, memory. Particular attention is paid to the study of lyrical poems by M. Pokchi-Petrov and V. Vanyushev devoted to heroic and long-suffering mothers.
