THE FIGURE OF A SOVIET POLITICIAN IN THE WRITERS’ MEMOIRS OF THE RUSSIAN EMIGRANTS OF THE FIRST WAVE (A. LUNACHARSKY IN THE ESSAYS OF G. IVANOV AND V. KHODASEVICH)

Abstract. The article analyzes compositional and stylistic devices, with the help of which the memoirists-emigrants create an image of People’s Commissar for Education A. Lunacharsky. The personality of the People’s Commissar is given in a wide metonymical and metaphorical sense. A. Lunacharsky personifies the Soviet bureaucratic system and wider - the Soviet state as such. In creating his portrait the writers express their position with respect to the Soviet statehood as a whole. The specificity of creating the image of the official that is not typical of this type of prose is principal in the emigrant memoirs of G. Ivanov and V. Khodasevich.
