THE HOLIDAY "KARGA TUE" ("ROOKS’ HOLIDAY") IN THE FOLKLORE OF THE TATAR PEOPLE

Abstract. The article deals with the spring calendar rite of the Tatar people "Karga tue" ("Rooks’ holiday"). The origins, the relationship of the calendar rite with the Old Turkic cults, the modern forms of the rite existence, the transformation and the adaptation to the realia of the present are considered. The peculiarities of the rite existence in the regions of the compact residence of the Tatars in the Russian Federation are described. The work is based on the expedition materials of the authors and the scientists of G. Ibragimov Institute of Language, Literature and Arts of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences.
