Abstract. In 1923 David Herbert Lawrence came to Mexico, where he was seriously fascinated by the history of this country, rooted in the history of the ancient Aztec tribe. The images and motifs of the Aztec culture are represented in poet’s works. The most important of these is the image of the Sun which is central in both Lawrence’s works and the mythology of the Aztecs. The article by the material of two poems "Aristocracy of the Sun" and "The Hostile Sun" demonstrates the influence of the Indian culture on the ideological messages of D. H. Lawrence’s poetic creativity.
