Abstract. The article discovers the essence of definition predicative modification in the text, and analyzes the arrangement and logico-semantic structure of definitional periphrases. Special attention is paid to identifying the types of definitional predicates on the basis of which modified textual definitions are formed. The study is focused on definitional periphrases and definitional predicates developing the relations of classification, characterization, existence and definitiveness.
