Abstract. The article deals with the originality of the female image in L. E. Ulitskaya’s novella "Sonechka". The feminine principle in writer’s work is interesting and many-sided, but this aspect has not been studied enough. The novella "Sonechka" reconstructs the cultural atmosphere of the era, represents author’s view on the literary situation on the threshold of the new millennium. As a result of the research, the conception of the works is specified, and the peculiarities of the feminine principle in the novella are identified.
