EVOLUTION OF LOVE CONCEPTIONS IN WEST EUROPEAN LYRICS OF THE XII-XIV CENTURIES

Abstract. European poetry of the XII-XIV centuries experienced the impetuous evolution of love conceptions. Troubadours’ lyrics associating the Lady with well-being, "sweet new style" poetry elevating her to the level of transcendental creature, poems by Petrarca who abandoned the conventions in the depiction of love and made it the principle of life itself - all the above mentioned poetical genres determined the basic motives of Renaissance sonnets: glorifying the earthly and celestial elements of Lady’s beauty and the sufferings caused by love for so perfect creature.
