Abstract. The article considers the importance of using motivating authentic films about teachers in English classes in pedagogical institutions of higher education. As an example the author describes the work on the film "Before the class", which includes a discussion of the professional skills of the protagonist, cultural similarities and differences between Russia and the United States, their education systems. The educational role of comparing the Russian and American moral values in the education of future teachers is emphasized.
