ON CERTAIN PECULIARITIES OF COHERENCE CATEGORY MANIFESTATION IN THE GOSPEL OF JOHN (BY THE EXAMPLE OF KING JAMES VERSION)

Abstract. The article analyzes the actualization of the textual category of coherence in the integrity of its structural and meaningful components, cohesion and coherence, in the King James Version of the Gospel of John. The analysis allowed the author to identify the mutual penetration of the means of cohesion and coherence in the mentioned text. According to the author, perception and understanding of Gospel is in many ways conditioned by recipient’s understanding of the mechanism of correlation of superficial and deep components of the category of coherence in Gospel’s textual space and is based on the essential relations between the elements of co-referential field "Word - God - life - light" expressed in the prologue of the Gospel of John.
