THE IMAGE OF GRIGORI MELEKHOV IN THE LITERARY CRITICISM OF 1939-1941

Abstract. The article deals with the evolution of the image of Grigori Melekhov from a vacillating lone hero to a tragic personality in the perception of the literary criticism of 1939-1941. Grigori Melekhov is understood as a hero, seeking his way, doubting, destined to go through a lot. The ordeals cleanse Grigori Melekhov and show that his fate is closely related to the fate of the people. The conclusion about the innovation in the image of Grigori Melekhov is drawn by the literary criticism of 1939-1941.
