Abstract. The article considers the subjective arrangement of the novel by Ksenia Buksha "The Freedom Factory", in particular, the function of separate chapters-interludes in the structure of the novel. The special role of the interludes is conditioned by paradoxical combination of optional function proclaimed in chapter’s title with the key figures - factory directors. Four interludes represent different approaches to reconstructing reality: literal reconstruction of witnesses’ evidences, reconstructing the event from the viewpoint of an author-creator, character’s stream of consciousness and figurative re-interpretation of realty in the poetical discourse. Interlude analysis allows the author to conclude that these chapters are a kind of "key" to the novel and describe briefly the history of Freedom Factory.
