"FATAL WOMAN" IN THE ROMANTICISM LITERATURE: ON THE ORIGIN OF LOLITA IMAGE IN V. V. NABOKOV’S NOVEL

Abstract. The article examines the origin of Lolita image in the context of European romanticism. The paper analyzes the transformation of "child-wife" image, underlying the patriarchal culture, into the "fatal woman" image. The author describes the images included into the "fatal woman" discursive line. This line traces its origin to the images of Venus, gypsy woman, kidnapped child, and vampire. The researcher identifies typical emotional experiences of romantic characters, their similarity and difference with V. V. Nabokov’s personages.
