THE PROBLEM OF HOMONYMY IN THE ORTHOGRAPHY OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article deals with the peculiarities of the origin of the French orthography, describes the situation of bilingualism, presents the classification of homonyms in French, gives the most common mistakes and difficulties in spelling, which are typical of not only students studying French as a foreign language, but also of native speakers. The importance of studying the problems of orthography and the problems of homonymy in the orthography of the French language is highlighted.
