THE POLYETHNIC WORLD OF THE VOLGA IN I. S. AKSAKOV’S "LETTERS FROM THE PROVINCE"

Abstract. The article deals with the polyethnoconfessional world of the Volga in Ivan Aksakov’s "Letters from the Province", the foreign worlds in their specific cultural and ethnic specificity of expression. The author analyzes the various strata of life in the peculiarity of religious and ethnographic manifestations: the Kalmyk way of life, public worship, national costume, rituals and customs. Ethnographism as a characteristic property of "Letters from the Province", contributing to the identification of non-Russian constants, complicates the literary system of the work.
