SUBJUNCTIVE MOOD AS A MEANS OF REPRESENTATION OF THE LANGUAGE FIELD OF POSSIBILITY MEANINGS IN THE SEMANTIC SPACE OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of fundamental attributes of the subjunctive mood in the English language. The notion "field of possibility meanings" is introduced to describe the semantics of the subjunctive mood. It is shown how antinomy, probability and temporality are realized in conditional sentences. The conclusion is made about the inevitable actualization of these notions in statements of this type. The work is carried out within the framework of the philosophy of language and linguistics with the use of appropriate terminological apparatuses.
